Pastoral Duties to include, but not limited to:

 

1.    Pulpit – Planning, preparing and executing of messages and series, as concurred in by the elders.

2.    Pulpit Training – Identifying, training and mentoring gifts of teaching within the Body in conjunction with the elders.

3.    Counseling – Marriage, addiction, depression, life coaching, spiritual advisement, anger management, parenting. New Horizons Hawaii, a PIBC Mission, could assist the senior pastor, if he needs help in these areas.

4.    Funerals – Meet with the family, plan and execute the services:  both burial and memorial. This would initially be a shared responsibility between the new senior pastor and the elders.

5.    Visitation – In home visits, hospital visits or pastor lunch opportunities.

6.    Leadership Development - Discipleship and mentoring – Always be on the lookout for new leaders. This is a shared responsibility between the senior pastor and the elders.

7.    Visitor Letters – Letters to newcomers should be received to their home before the end of the week. This is a shared responsibility between the senior pastor and the ministry coordinator.

8.    Baptisms – Pre-baptism consultations, meeting with the candidates prior to baptism and leading the sacrament.

9.    Special Event Leadership – Vision casting, organizing, prayer, managing, coordinating.  This is a shared responsibility between the senior pastor and the elders.

10. Communion – Lead when it is pastor’s turn in the rotation of elders.

11. Welcome / Prayer - Prayer and greetings on Sunday mornings and other gatherings. The elders have responsibility for the Welcome/Opening prayer on Sunday mornings on a monthly rotating basis.

12. Conflict Resolution – Must be able to teach biblical conflict resolution and implement between staff members, individual church members or Ohana group factions. This is a shared responsibility between the senior pastor and the elders.

13. Church Discipline – Implementing biblical guidelines and faithfully coming alongside individuals who are in need of discipline with the ultimate intent to move towards full restoration. This is a shared responsibility between the senior pastor and the elders.

14. Groups – Oversee all groups within the body from children to youth to young people to men’s and women’s groups and Ohana (Small) groups.  Always be on the lookout for potential group leaders and train and equip those individuals. This is a shared responsibility between the senior pastor and the elders.

15. Review Order of Worship – Work with Ministry coordinator to plan Sunday services and special events.

16. Leadership Meetings – Create agenda and lead the quarterly Leadership meetings. This is a shared responsibility between the senior pastor and the elders.
